Determining Average Program Execution
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper presents a general framework for determining average program execution times and their variance, based on the program's interval structure and control dependence graph. Average execution times and variance values are computed using frequency information from an optimized counter-based execution proole of the program.

Combining Symbolic Execution and Path Enumeration in Worst-Case Execution Time Analysis
This paper examines the problem of determining bounds on execution time of real-time programs. Execution time estimation is generally useful in real-time software verification phase, but may be used in other phases of the design and execution of real-time programs (scheduling, automatic parallelizing, etc.). This paper is devoted to the worst-case execution time (WCET) analysis. We present a st...
متن کاملSimplifying WCET Analysis By Code Transformations
Determining worst case execution time of a program by static analysis is important for the design of real-time software. WCET analysis at the programming language level requires the detection of the longest path in the program. A tighter bound on the WCET of a program can be achieved by identifying the infeasible paths in the program’s control flow, which is a difficult problem. Due to the bran...
متن کاملA Functional Approach to Worst-Case Execution Time Analysis
Modern hard real-time systems demand safe determination of bounds on the execution times of programs. To this purpose, program execution for all possible combinations of input values is impracticable. In alternative, static analysis methods provide sound and efficient mechanisms for determining execution time bounds, regardless of input data. We present a calculation-based and compositional dev...
متن کاملDetermining the Execution Time Distribution for a Data Parallel Program in a Heterogeneous Computing Environment
An important problem in heterogeneous computing (HC) is predicting task execution time. A methodology is introduced for determining the execution time distribution for a given data parallel program that is to be executed in an SIMD, MIMD (SPMD), and/or mixed-mode SIMD/MIMD (SPMD) HC environment. The program is assumed to contain operations and constructs whose execution times depend on input-da...
متن کاملImpact of Code Compression on Estimated Worst-Case Execution Times
Code compression techniques might be useful to meet code size constraints in embedded systems. In the average case, the impact of code compression on the performance is double-edged: on one side, the number of accesses to memory hierarchy is reduced because several instructions are coded in a single word, and this is likely to reduce the execution time; on the other side, the decompression pena...
